I only wish I'd known about this place sooner, having worked nearby for years and having searched the area high and low for good food to eat for lunch. Their small buffet of hot food is great if you like hearty, meat-based dishes. You throw it all in a carry out container and they sell by weight. $5-8 for a very filling meal. They have a decent selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, great Polish drinks, candy and groceries. I like to do a portion of my grocery shopping here while I'm on my lunch break. The staff has always been great to me. Support your local ethnic market. These guys have been bringing great food to Metro Detroit for decades.

My first trip here this afternoon was going good up until after about two minutes of walking in. Not a very welcoming experience. Not one person welcomed me with a smile nor a greeting. It was if the workers didn't want to be there themselves. I felt like a stranger in a foreign country. I bought some lunch meats, bread, pirogi, soup etc... regardless of being the 6th in line with only one person working the counter. There was no number system so it's up to the customer to know who is next. Another long line at checkout with only one counter. The prices were reasonable and they had a lot of great polish foods that I like. And yes, I am 100% polish but I doubt I will be back. At least at Agrusa at 17/Dequindre and Srodek Deli on Mound treat their customers with a smile and greeting. Note to owner: teach your employees people skills! You lose three stars for people skills and making the customers fight at who is next in line at the deli.

LOVE the store but treated so RUDELY by the employees for not being Polish!! Made to feel very unwelcome. I have ran into this at shopping at Bozeks in Sterling Heights and Polish Market in Troy, but they are so rude to me!! I do not understand. I am in the store supporting you and you are going to treat me like this???? WHY??? I understand I am not Polish, but I enjoy Polish food and Culture.

Mmmmmm.....pierogi..... Well, two outta three weren't bad. I bought two frozen (dozen) potato & kraut, and one dozen already cooked (farmer cheese) - Farmer cheese were BAM so good! I didn't actually try the potato, and the kraut tasted funny, to my whole family...soo...I don't know if it was just a taste thing, or if it was a date thing, I hadn't checked, even after being warned by all of the other reviews The store looked really fresh and amazing, I really love the variety of fresh and frozen items to choose from. I don't get here enough and when I do go I want to be in their for EVER! It just reminds me of being a little girl, and listening to my Grandmother, Mother, and Aunts clammer on in Polish...and the smells bring me back as well... I just want to buy everything!. Bozeks is a solid choice when it comes to meats, soups, and breads. I have NEVER had anything other than stellar customer service while here. I think what people misconstrue as rudeness may actually be a tad bit of a language barrier between worker and customer. Put on a smile and slow down...if you are relaxed everyone will be relaxed....geesh...common friggin sense!

I have had a hankering for some cabbage soup all week, & found myself too far from either Polish market, & The Big Boys around here all need some help... So I thought why not try Bozeks! Called first to see if they had any Cabbage Soup? The very sweet gal said we usually do, let me check first..sweet or sour? I replied "either or please" Bam! they had both, so then I got greedy, and asked do you have any HOT Foods? Yes, we have a daily Hot Food Buffet until 7pm ! Let me tell you this place is a little slice of Poland, right here at 18.5 & Van Dyke The cabbage soups were $3 a quart The Hot food buffet had 10-12 selections, including sausages, pork chops & city chicken. Plus in the walk in cooler they had cucumbers & cream & marianated beets!

Bozek's has a pretty good selection of jarred goods (sauerkraut and such). The soups are good (although the Hungarian Soup is the only one that I'm sure is vegetarian). All in all, a decent second choice for those too far from The Polish Market in Troy.

This place is cool! They have the widest selection of Polish/european candy. Besides, they sell polish sausage/deli, cakes. I'm crazy about their rum ball (giant one lol)! If you want a good deal on a polish lunch or dinner I suggest checking out their little in-store buffet (w/o the seating)-- carry out only. So, they have fresh meatballs, sausage & sauerkraut, pork cutlets, potato pancakes, and some other 5-7 items which to me are comfort food, nothing too fancy since my mom makes this kind of food at home. I believe it's only $4.88/lb--a fair deal for what you're getting. Again, it's not fancy. I've grown up eating polish/eastern european food all my life so I consider this type of food as basic, but maybe thrilling to non-natives of this cuisine. Whenever I go to have my hair done at Paul Mitchell's I'll usually stop by at Bozek's for some good polish food!

If you decide to visit this store, make sure you pay attention to expiration dates on packages. Also, the sausages that I purchased there on several occasions were spoiled with light sour taste to it. I do like european food but I got disappointed too many times in the quality of products that are being sold at this place.

Bozek's has some great specials. We always get our steaks from there for our Super Bowl party. We have been coming here for years!

I have a love/hate affair with this place. Good meat selection and the butchers in the walk-in refrigerator are friendly and accommodating. The female cashiers, however, are generally unfriendly and rude. Agree with another commenter that you have to watch expiration dates. Have purchased some mixed deli meat/cheese packages that were definitely on their way out. Have never had a problem with their cryo-packed meats. Stay away from the overripe fruits and vegetables.

Went to Bozek's for the first time yesterday, 4/12/12. I saw an advertised special for whole NY strip steaks slicked free for $3.69/lb. I picked one out and they sliced it and wrapped it in a styrfoam tray. When I got it home and opened the package my wife and I both immediately noticed a strong fishy smell coming from the meat, I believe this is a sign of spoiling and am not willing to take a chance and so are throwing the meat out. This is the first and definitely the last time i will be visitng Bozek's.
